SUMMARY OF WORK
The Afghanistan Air Force (AAF) Aviation Enhancement at Mazar-e-Sharif consists of the design and construction of a new Life Support Area (LSA) Expansion, a new mixed-use aircraft airfield identified as “Operations Airfield”, and other additional support facilities and utilities. The LSA Expansion and new Operations Airfield are briefly summarized, as follows:
Life Support Area Expansion (LSA): The LSA Expansion consists of new officer, NCO, and enlisted barracks to support the AAF, including a new Dinning Facility (DFAC), storage facility, and administration facilities. In addition, the new LSA include a new perimeter wall, guard towers, road, sidewalks, a well and water distribution system, wastewater collection system, an electrical distribution system and power connection, a new Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), a new sewer force main to convey wastewater from the existing LSA to the new WWTP, furniture for facilities, and all incidental work and requirements for a complete and usable LSA.
Operations Airfield: The new Operations Airfield consists of a new “Papa” Taxiway to replace the existing degraded Papa Taxiway, a new Armed Aircraft Apron, new Munitions Storage facility, a new Military (MIL.) Ramp Taxiway to replace degraded reaches of the existing MIL. Ramp Taxiway, new UH-60 aircraft hangars, a new Fixed-Wing Apron which utilizes the refurbishing existing paved aprons, utilities and service connections, and all incidental work and requirements for a complete and useable airfield.
